Really, that 1500 was a disgrace. Why didn't AlSal order Moser to make it legit? Or Cain, but she probably lacks the experience needed. But only one of them was making it with JBS and Rowbury locks.

Did he have faith in Cain's kick? Letting that many hang around was a terrible plan. Gallagher has no chance, does she? 205.9 and 408.x PRs?

Was 5th at 2013 USATF Nationals in the 1500m

Having a stellar year on the track, won't be surprised when she gets the standard.

Kerri is still in DC - she is an assistant coach at American University and still training under Matt Centrowitz. Not THAT surprising of a result as she was 5th in the 1500m in 2013 and was 2:07 800 runner in college. Probably more surprising is how good a 10 miler she can run now!

So Gallagher is almost certainly in no matter what? Does Johnson have to get the standard in order to qualify as the 4th? What happens if Johnson does get the standard, but Gallagher doesn't? I assume both would go.

If one of them fails to get the standard and the other gets it, then Moser would get in. If neither of them gets the standard, Moser and Kampf get in. If they both get the standard, they both get in and Moser and Kampf stay home.

So assuming the 45th time is no faster than 4:10.00 and that Gallagher and Johnson do not get the standard, who will go from the US?

I'm trying to figure out whether there is a scenario where Gallagher and/or Johnson can go without getting the standard. The following thread basically says no.

Had the same question -- whether the standard is rolling or set in stone.

Seems like there is big emphasis on chasing the standard, but do they have to hit it to go?

LetsRun has run a few articles on WC qualifying over the past few weeks.

Currently, it appears that what USATF decides to do will take precedent over the IAAF's descending order selection process.

And, what USATF has said is, to make the team you need to have the Q. If you don't now, you have until August 9th to get it.

So, as of right now, the w1500m team is Simpson, Rowbury, Moser, Kampf.

Gallagher, Johnson and/or Rachel Schneider can bump Moser and/or Kampf off the team if they get their Q by Aug. 9th.

If I understand the selection process, the IAAF will not usurp the individual federations. So if USATF does not submit Johnson and/or Gallagher's name on the roster, they cannot compete, even if they are one of those 45. Of course the roster is not submitted until Aug 10 a day after allowable marks can be attained.

It is great to see new blood making the team (even if they have been at it for a while).
