carter's shot went far enough to land on the track though; doesn't that make it qualify as a track performance?

Impossible for a high school female without drugs.Certainly impossible, legally.Id say either the wind gauge was malfunctioning,or perhaps the timer was off. There is no way a 16 or 17 year old girl can run that fast, its far too good to be true.Yes you can get some talented junior sprinters, but 10.98 is beyond ridiculous.

Aren't most juniors 16 or 17?
You sound like the commentators at FloJo's WR.
She ran 11.21 into a -1.5 headwind in NY at the dream 100. That actually calculates to an 11.09 basic, whereas her performance at this weekend with the 2.0 tailwind calculates to 11.10.
She's unreal and you should have already heard of her as she ran 11.3 and 23.1 as a freshman last year to break the GA state records. She's a true phenom. Like the Efraimson following Cain but even better.

Wow, is it time to go pro?
Love the commentary!
+1 Some real geeks that got really excited. Good job

me too...they made it real!
It sounds like she is mentally processing the fact that she will be able to turn pro soon. I'll bet that agents are scrambling like crazy to get in on this

Why do Americans take regular names then misspell them?
Another eg Natosha
Dopers starting younger BTW
How PC of you. You mean black Americans you coward. Or I guess you could say African-Americans to be super PC. Just tell the truth.
Doper? It's possible. But look at her and make sure you're looking at pictures of her from this season; she's far more physically mature than your average HS soph. Far more. She hit her growth / maturation spurt this year. She'll peak out by age 19. If she improves beyond then, then it will be likely you can start tossing the drug accusations around with a good chance at being 100% correct.
How many girls in that race get a PB?
Only two juniors have run faster. Here's hoping she can erase them from the record books.
Marlies Oelsner Göhr tested positive for androgenic steroids in 1975 as a 17-year-old. Her 1977 10.88 sec junior record was also a world record.
Katrin Krabbe tested positive for Clenbuterol, never ran faster than her junior time of 10.89.

True phenom my foot ! 10.98 is a quick 16 year old boys time.Thats not a girl's time. But then the americans are the real world champions of doping, better even than the russians,so it shouldnt be a suprise theyre doping them younger, and younger.

It's ok to admit that you feel emasculated and insecure Jeff. Denial wont help you one bit.

Most ran right around their PBs
So, nobody else ran a PB in that race? That makes her performance even better.

You see that often. Incredible weather conditions and 50% of the field PBs
If you are the only one in a field that scores a PB, it often means that conditions were not ideal.
Therefore, you usually expect a PB when weather conditions/situation improves.
So if she's the only one that had a PB, you can expect sub 10.90 from her this summer. However if 75% of the field had a PB, that might be the peak of the summer (or even her HS career).
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
