I need to improve in the 3200 next season. My problem is that I have decent 1600 speed (4:30), but I don't seem to have the stamina in the second half of a 3200, and I end up running in the 9:40s. I would really like to get down to 9:30 or better. I'm sure I need more mileage. This summer I plan to get up to 75 mpw for XC, and that's the most I've ever done, so I hope that will carry over into track.
What kind of mileage should I shoot for in winter/spring? Long runs every week? How fast a tempo run? And do I need longer intervals? What is a key workout that will help me in the 3200?
