Now that I'm removed from the league in an official capacity, I can see things much clearer. Will Awad "be in the mix"? No. In the mix to me means in the mix for the win. Cheserek and Jenkins aren't losing. Next.Now. That doesnt' mean he's not VERY good. A total stud. The 1500 guys couldn't have asked for a more perfect race and yet Awad beat them all in a tactical race.So I guess it depends on what your definition of "in the mix" means. In the mix behind the top couple guys? Yes.As for the other guys, let me go one by one.
Napoliatno didn't score at Heps. He ran 4:00 indoors, then 3:44 outdoors. It's been a long season for hiim and he spliat 4:05 at Penn versus 4:02 for the guy from Indiana.
I don't see it happening. If you don't score at Heps, it seems like an injustice to me to make NCAAs. I like the Cornell sophomore's chances much better. That kids got some wheels.
The guy just finished 9th in the 2nd heat of a 1500 at NB. Don't see it happening since he was only 4th at Heps. Of course, looking at the results, it shows he made NCAAs last year after not scoring at Heps and I once had a kid whow as 4th at NCAAs be all-American in the 10k.
Much more conceivable to me. I want an in-form guy who is on top of his game. Plus it was pretty hot at Heps. The 10k in Jacksonville likely will be brutal. Running in heat versus normal conditions for some people is a totally different sport.
