Also, I agree with the post about listening to your coach. Your coach should give you a program designed to prepare you for the training in the fall. Simply follow it and if it doesn't include the suggestions below then ask your coach if you can include them.

My advice--exactly. Even two runs per week on a hilly course will yield excellent results.
