Conference champ as a true freshman; not exactly the most stacked field but still, well done. Can't wait for the results to be updated with the splits, must have been an insane last 400 considering the guy closed in 55 back when he ran 3:39.

You can click on the "heat 1" button to see the splits. 54 mid. Flashresults rocks.
He ran the last 800 with one shoe as well.
The VA Tech kid finished in 54.3, falling just short.
Chris Fox is doing great with Knight. I'll bet his class work is coming along as well. Good coaching contrast against the shenanigans going on at Tennessee.
That field was really good, not sure what the original poster said when he said "not a stacked field"
Crawford 3:40 Marsella 3:41 Wynne 3:41 holden 3:41 Lasater 3:42 duke kid 3:43 and obviously knight 3:39.
The 8th seed being a 3:43 guy is pretty stacked in my eyes
I don't know if you guys watched the race, but Gourley from VT was boxed in until less than 100 to go, it seems like if he had better positioning going into the final 150m he would have kicked down Knight.
Ran 13:34, 3:38, & Sub 4 all in one year. His time will come. He won't be underrated any longer.
Gotta love Justyn, and gotta love the whose SU team, and mostly, gotta love coach Fox.
My prediction: SU wins the XC title this November.

IDK man, Colorado is returning ALOT of guys next year (Pearson, Saarel, Murphy, Moussa, Winter). SU's not quite there yet. Maybe two years before SU has a chance at contending for the title? They do have a lot of freshman to develop, not to mention only FOUR seniors on their XC roster; quite a farm for Coach Fox to work with.

Yeah but Gourley had two spikes on for the whole race.

Check out that 5k, Curtin closed in 54.47.
http://www.flashresults.com/2015_Meets/Outdoor/05-14_ACC/027-1-01.htmVT has some serious closers. 1st 800m, 2nd 1500m, 1st 5000m, 3rd, 5th, 6th Steeple. Distance was their big boost to get 3rd in the Team race. Women's 800m and 1500m 2nd with very good times.

He actually has only run 3:39.66 (but close enough)
So at 18 y.o., he's run 13:34, 3:39, sub 4 indoor and won ACC with one shoe (is that true?), yet 19 y.o. Maton gets more coverage for running a 3:59 mile...
Go figure...

I was in the race, actually ended up stepping on it after it had come off. So yeah, his shoe was off.

I guess that he has answered the age old question of "what do you do if your shoe falls off half way into a mile race"
The answer is: "if you want to win, you just continue running..."
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
