There's nothing else you can say.
This is a serious problem. No longer an isolated incident, but plenty of poor races. The wunderkind is gone and there's nothing sleazy sal can do about it

What the hell happened? Weigh in with your opinions or theories.
I mean seriously, what happened to her??
I feel sorry for Miss Cain. Not so much for her poor results this year but for the online comments that she gets. Hard to remember that she is age wise only a college frosh. I hope the following saying applies- You either win a race or learn. You really never lose.

Well, she's age-wise only a college frosh, but she turned pro. If you're a pro you don't get much slack, development-wise. If you're being paid, you'd better produce or else you won't get paid much longer.
You seem to revel in her difficulties, don't you? She is a young woman, adjusting to a mature body...she may work her way through this and come out of it over time. Of course, that would make you very unhappy...what a jerk!
I'm sad. She's such a great girl; no idea what's going on.

I am not reveling - it makes me pretty sad to see someone so talented now struggling so badly. It gives me no joy to see this. I think going pro so early was a big mistake. If she was a collegiate the opinions of her "adjustments" may be more forgiving, but not as a pro.

Agreed.
Of course there is also the possibility that as her body matures she never reaches that level of running success that many had hoped for in her. Even then she will likely be a success in life - unlike those whose only "success" is found in gloating over the struggles of others.
She's the same mold as Rupp, weak from the womb. If things don't go exactly their way, if conditions aren't controlled and they aren't coddled, they crumble. Physically superior but psychologically feeble. This should be no surprise to anybody who has followed her, seen her interviews, mannerisms, etc. She's 19 years old not a high school junior, stop using the physical maturation excuse. This is her JOB, of course people are going to criticize her. If I don't perform up to standards at work, you best believe I'm getting criticized--same as everybody else. Stop making excuses for her and hold her to standards. Most people in most professions get fired when they under-perform this much. She better get her act together

You are straight up just a bad person. I don't believe in hell but if I did you are exactly the kind of person I would expect to find there.

Yo! Lighten up Francois.
It's just running.
No fan of NOPe but so she's off to a slow start. If she blows up for the rest of the year and next, well hopefully she'll have a good pile of cash to pay for college. I suspect she'll be running under 4:00 in a couple years, but whether she does or not, it's not a big deal.
You on the other hand suck. Always have, so go play with your baby bottle nipple and let the runners run.

Ever hear of Galen Rupp?
I think this has been a real mismatch between a great natural talent and a dogmatic coach. Tragic.
Get the girl on thyroid and she will be back to form, but it is no way cheating though...*Sarcasm*

tentative +1
Cain's lackluster performance suggests over-training. The workout-after-races routine is a grind and probably doesn't work for everyone. Hopefully, Salazar will ease off a bit on her training and refrain from making performance predictions which puts added pressure on his athletes.

Is anyone really surprised? HS phenomena usually don't last. She was wise to take the pay check.
She couldn't get along with her HS coaches or team. She didn't race nxn as a senior after losing to Baxter. This was foreseeable.

Thank you. Tully had a great finish.
