I've been running since freshman year of high school. I'm a sophomore collegiate runner now and ever since I started running, I had a problem with always having to take a crap about a mile or two into my runs. I can never pinch one out before I leave, but miraculously as soon as I get going, I feel the urge.
Anyone else have this problem? What do you do to remedy it?

Why is this a problem? Tuck some toilet paper in your waistband, so you're ready to let 'er rip.

WELL, WELL, WELL...I am sure there are many who have this problem but don't present it in public..but since you did..here I am...
All good answers....always carry tolet paper, but if your a heavy sweater, it will get soggy...so I nornally put it in a plastic baggy...with hand wipes when I have them..(this is something I have learned to do at road races too..)
Drink coffee, another good answer, however, if your in a hurry, sometimes the coffee don't work, and it will make sure you have to go on the run...
I have also used these suggestions to counter the attack of the killer bowels.....
Wear a cheap bandana on your run......one you won't want to wear later....
Never run in heavy populated areas.....
If all else fails, use a sock.....I finished many training runs with only one sock...
How do you battle this problem....I don't have that answer, but since you have an advantage...you know it is coming in one or two miles....plan the early part of your run near a restroom or plenty of trees...
GOOD LUCK...and if you ever have to go on the run and you get to the bushes and you hear somebody say...SHAKING THE TREE HERE BOSS....I already beat you there....
find another sport. shitting your pants every day is not worth it.
why dont you just do a nice easy 2 mile warm up for all of your runs like a loop that ends back at the park with a bathroom, and then go out on your run?

MY QUESTION TO YOU STEVE K....DOES THIS ALSO HAPPEN IN RACES?
For some reason I do not get it in races. I guess by the time I may have it, I'm already in such pain that I don't realize it.
Man, do I have stories about shitting myself. I wish they'd bring back that thread called 'Pooped my pants during a 10k or something like that'
This could be some kind of toilet training issue that goes back to your childhood...how were you potty trained? Were your parents severe and constantly struggling with you? Or were they permissive and let you learn to use the toilet on your own?
Since the toilet is part of the socialization process, you may have some issues in this area if you are defecating during runs.
The answers to these questions could help you with your current situation...
Stop eating so much cereal and processed foods and get some natural meat and veggies into your system.
I find that having corn flakes in the morning seems to block me up, also cut out fruit until after the run and give yourself 4-5 hours after eating a meal before you run.
try having a coffe and a smoke before you go out, it should loosen things up
