What is the dumbest question you have ever been asked regarding cross country or just distance running in general?

I asked a guy once how fast he could run a mile, he said he did not know but that he ran 4 miles in like 8:00 once. I was trying not to sound too dis-believable when I asked him to explain, and he told him "yep I ran 4 times around the track"

In general, the sheer shock of hearing that I ran some "ridiculous" distance of 7 or more miles provokes all sorts of idiotic responses.

Even your PR's, if they are slower than you think are good, can be considered unearthly by someone who knows no better.

And then there's those idiots who laugh at your new PR because they've "run a 12:00 5K a few years ago".

"How long was the marathon?"

"My girlfriend wants to use a strap-on on me, should I let her?"

idk, but i hate when i'm just about to go running (a 13 miler at 5:50 pace), and people say, "So you're going jogging"

What do you run the 40 in?

How far is a mile? Is that like a marathon.

You'd be surprised how many runners in the general population don't know how far around an outdoor track is.
