Wisconcin is still the best team we all know the colorado boys was lucky today. tommorrow they would lose badly.

Doesn't matter who the best team is tommorrow. The race was today.
Please spell Wisconsin right.
I believe the race was today and I believe Colorado won. End of story.
WOW!! for some people this has gotten way too serious.
If the Munich 5k race was a day later, Pre would have lapped the competition.
while it breaks my heart that Badgers didn't win, Colorado won and deserves all the props they earned. Great race. It just wasn't Bucky's day.

Great thread--If Colorado wouldn't have shown up, Wisconsin would have won.
For all of those who justify Wisc having runners drop out of races early because they were going to win the national championship - perhaps if they had run a few more full races!
Play games, get burned.
I don't feel sorry. Colorado takes the risk by not babying their runners. They win. There is justice.
I agree, Wisconsin is the best team of the field, but Colorado is the National Champion, nothing they can do about it now.
to quote chris berman: "THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES" (or in this case...why they run the races) thank christ for the underdog!

If Colorado's school bus would have gotten lost, Wisconsin would have won.
If Colorado were in D2 or D3, Wisconsin would have won.
If Holland Nass was Colorado's #1 runner, Wisconsin would have won.
Please spell rong right.
Look at the 5k and 8k splits of Colorado. They all ran a masterful race . If they finished around 32:00 they ran around 16 for 5k, and around 25:35 for 8k. Without exception.
I love Wisconsin, but only Bairu went out hard and didn't fade. There are Colorado guys who were 30 full seconds behind a Wisconsin guy at the freakin' 5k. 30 seconds! and they went on to beat that guy.
I think that Wisconsin is a great team and the individuals are great runners, but it looks like they were a little flat on the day. Solinsky and Teg seem better than the gap they were back from Bairu.
Anyway, No matter what any other team did, whatever strategy they employed Colorado would have been top-three because they were in shape and ran even-pace and didn't fade. It took an off day by Wisconsin to do it, but they were a solid top-three performance today no matter what anyone else did. It takes strong belief in yourself to stick to 5:10-5:20 pace when everyone else who matters is out at 4:55-5:00.
Check the splits you will see it immediately.
If you mom had hooked a different john a day later, your stupid ass might have never been born.

Almost a good insult, but if his mom had hooked a different john "a day later", it wouldn't have mattered. She would have already been pregnant.
An 'A' for effort, though.
Several Wisco runners had food posioning from an ill conceived eating stunt "Beans and Cabbage against Lactic Acid" that Spiker set up to promote a new running website. So it is understandable that things didn't work out as planned.
AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA,
CU WINS....BUFF BASHERS, I'M SURE THERE'S A SUPPORT GROUP FOR YOU SOMEWHERE WITHIN THIS SITE, SEEK HELP, HURRY.

The Wis-con-"SIN" would be if they are not man enough to say the better team TODAY won....
I think it really does come down to the coaching. As someone else pointed out the CU runners all went out easy and most even splitted. This all comes back to coaching, strategy given to the runners before their races. I think Wetmore saw the conditions of the course and realized that there would be a lot of people to pick off, especially at a race like nationals where so many people get excited. CU is one of the only teams to even split the majority of their runners. All the teams who worked that strategy ran well.
Colorado always runs that type of race! Wisco ran bad today. Lockhart off of his race, Spiker and Nelson a poor performance!!! Colorado ran a very good race, but Wisco also ran a poor race (even Teg and Solinsky were off of their race; they are both very capable of a top 8 finish. Keller and Bairu ran very good for Wisco. Colorado ran about as good as they possibly could and won by 4!!! Congratulations to them and Wetmore!!!!!!!!!!! Wisco gambled and did not run their best 7 runners and paid for it by losing the national championship; you gamble and sometime you lose!!!!!!!!
