Embarrassing
He has not been DQed. Mistakes happen.
I do see that he was not DQ'd but should he be even if it was a mistake? He did run inside the track on the turn for quite a ways on that last turn.
He took five steps inside the rail, it would be ridiculous not to DQ him.
it destroyed his momentum. nearly came to a stop. terrible luck there. he was heading for 4:00. all by himself too.
Not so much embarrassing as impressive. He was trying to break 4 solo and ran 4:03 after losing his balance. Dude is a monster.
I wonder if his low arm carriage got him in trouble here. Sub-4 outdoors looks like a given.
Apologies for accidentally posting this thread twice. At any rate, what a letdown. Here's hoping Fisher can fix these issues by outdoor nats.
Can someone say what actually happened.
Is the National Federation of High School's Rule rule book not in effect? Rai Benjamin wins on a disqualification and many others DQ on false starts. Official results from the meet show Fisher with the win. Can't have it both ways. Awfully administered meet.
Results still show @Phresh_Fish at 4:03.54 after this mishap on the final curve #NBNationals
Watch the rail lol

On the last turn, Fisher stepped on the rail and tripped inside the track. While stumbling, he kept running forward inside of a few bags inside the rail and then made his way to the track after 5 steps (according to someone on here - I didn't count) so that he got back on a ways ahead of where he got off the track.
My guess is if anyone was close to him or anyone protested, they would have DQd him. But he had such a lead that they didn't care. Is that right? Probably not and definitely not by the rules but he got away with one there.
...and he lost 2-3 seconds, so not sure what he "got away with".

No way can this Mark hold up
He did not run the full distance
You do not get to make judgements on that
He 're entered track well ahead of where he went off and took five stumbling full strides at least two to three feet inside.
He would have run 401.x if he had stayed on surface
more like .2 or .3

I agree that he lost time because he stumbled but he also cut off part of the track. By rule, you should get DQ'd when you cut off part of the track on the inside whether you lose time or not. The "got away with one" referred to this, part not the time he ran. I have no problem with them not DQing in this situation because he had a huge lead and it didn't effect placing (which really should not matter whether you DQ or not) but if someone protested, they would have had to have DQ him.
I actually come out almost like this, like above poster on this issue, but for lists and time purposes there is no way this can count, he did not run nearly the full mile distance, plain and simple, look at the video closely he was off the track for a good 7-8 yards of advancement before he came back on. He may have run 1600M, may have.
As unfortunate as it was, the fact is there was no interference, no contact and this was all self induced by stepping on the rail.
I am unsure of the rule that says you get to make a judgement that a guy would have won anyway, I have never heard that invoked, I could be wrong. But he was well off the track for 4-5 real long out of control sides, well inside the rai, before coming back onl.

Good riddance. I hope the DQ stands.
When I see Fisher I just see another sketchy foreign national with a questionable age. LV version 2.0.
Hoping that he never achieves sub-4 and then burns out in college as a 25 year old sophomore.
You are actually incredibly stupid, he's from Canada and grew up in the states he is in no way an age cheat, he is incredible and I can't wait to watch him for the next few years.
Hey buddy- no one cares about your stupid, jealous opinion. He indeed ran a full mile, as his lateral move back onto the track ensured it. If you disagree, please up a basic geometry class.
