I'm going to be in Portland in April, and thought I'd drive out to Beaverton to see the famed Nike Campus. Does the lrc know if it is necessary to make an appointment to tour the campus? Is it possible to do a workout on their track? Thanks in advance.

If you're wearing Nike gear and not stopping to take pictures every 50 feet you shouldn't have a problem walking around the campus, but I'd stay out of buildings unless you know an employee out there that can help you out. I used to run the perimeter bark chip path when I lived over in that area and never had a problem.

Why yes, it's possible. It would just cost you your soul, and an eternity of damnation. But you've accomplished that if you wear the shoes. Why do you ask?.
You won't have a problem as long as you're wearing Nike footwear. I'm not an employee but have worked on the track many times and I run on the Hollister Trail almost daily.
There are no guided tours but you can walk around campus and do a self guided tour. No one will likely say anything to you.
Nike and Al sal are the most dispicable figures in track and in exploiting young migrant workers. Such a trashy company and trashy person. May they rot in hell.
I used to work across the street and would run there after work ever once in a while. It is remarkably easy to sneak on and run on barkdust path around the campus or the Geoff Hollister trail. Like others have said, just wear Nike stuff and no one will care.
If you're looking for a way better place to run, though, hit up Forest Park. It's the best part of living in Portland IMO.

Nike is not all about running. They manufacture sportswear for other sports such as cycling, golf...
Their poster boys for the other sports don't all have low morals. You can't make such a blanket statement...

Nike shoes and Nike apparel are a must. Even Beaverton EMT's responding to a medical emergency are required to wear Nike's.....FACT!
I did a couple weeks ago. Just went out there and walked around. Park in the visitors parking as you enter. The Steve Prefontaine building is open to explore, the rest I didn't go into. I had no issues eating in their lunchroom and going to the track. There were a couple people running on the track at the time. I would definitely have been able to as well had I been in running gear. Do it, you won't regret it.
The Nike Campus isn't open to the public, but the Steve Prefontaine building houses a little museum of the Nike Archives that may or may not be open depending on the day. If you're not acting suspicious you can walk around and nobody will bother you. However, if you're wearing Adidas or something other than Nike shoes, prepare to be noticed/bothered by people. I heard someone call security on kids running the berm trail in non-Nike shoes a few months back.
Generally, while security does patrol the running trails to make sure they're safe, they're not looking to kick you off. In regards to the track, availability completely depends on if the track is being used. Some days it's fine, other days you'll see signs asking you not to use the track. It's a damn fine track though.
I work at a specialty run shop, my boss and other employees and customers have gotten a full tour and access to the Nike store when they were down for the Portland marathon. We arranged it through our Nike rep.
You can run on the track and wear whatever you want (though I strongly recommend wearing Nike). I normally wear Brooks shoes, and I've done many workouts on that track wearing other non-Nike gear. However, during the day (9-4) you may not be able to use the track because Nike-sponsored athletes working out.
As for tours, you can usually go to the Prefontaine Hall and just ask for a tour and someone will take you. You don't have to be an employee, but they probably won't take you on a tour if you're wearing Adidas clothing, etc.
I didn't have a problem when I was there. Though I would suggest shaving a Swoosh into your head, wearing a 'Stop Pre' T-shirt, and definitely wear Air Jordans when you hit the track.. You should be fine.
