The following is a race from a Canadian university conference championship. Backstory is you can either qualify for nationals as an auto-time qualifier or finish first or second in your conference championships. Guelph already has a couple guys auto-qualified, having run 7:53, 7:58, and 8:16 (standard is 8:17) and they are clearly trying to use some team tactics to get a fourth man to nationals.
Fast forward to 5:26 for 800m into the 3k (slow start, through in 2:18). No DQs were called and protests were overturned. What do you guys think? (Everything in the last 800m of the race).

Calling experts on track rules!!! Is this a DQ?

Disgusting.
Among other BS the last three laps, the taller blond-looking guy basically punches the guy passing on the outside with 200-220 to go.
Ah, collegiate athletics. Such a character-building period in a young man's life.
Is this DST's work? -
DST is the coach. A little sad that the tactics didn't even produce the desired result.
-
Poor. Very poor.
-
Can't someone edit that thing?
-
WTF have I missed here?
I haven't seen anything worth a DQ.
Please enlighten me. -
The stream unfortunately only lets you go to 5:26 and 5:32 which are 800m and 2900m into the race, respectively. Most of the damage is done with 800m to go which I would hazard a guess is around the 5:30 mark.

Thats pretty messed up. Guys like that ruin track and field. I have no respect for those runners or whoever coordinated that (possibly the coach). Real scumbags, they deserve to be kicked out of college track and field.
-
5:31:45. Clear DQ. Some pretty unethical stuff in addition but wouldn't be called in most races.
-
dirty race!

Here is the video of the race for those interested. The third place Guelph runner did wind up getting DQd. -
Ugh. Pathetic. The Guelph guy in third was basically looking back the majority of the last 600 and doing everything to block whomever tried to pass. There's really no place for this garbage in track. Not even in Canada.
-
in Europe - normal race: doubt anything would be in question.
other than that - the blond haired guy increased his right arm swing and lifted away from body. As with most races like this - things were happening long before the obvious. Actually pretty entertaining to me - I've always believed those kind of situations can be avoided with better (obviously) positioning. There was enough dirty pool to spread around on 'all' sides. -
Yes, "scumbags" is the word. Take note of the names and don't forget next time you see them.
-
Lot of jealous runners on this thread. Train more, get faster, stop wasting energy hating on the winners.
-
I have lost a lot of respect for the Guelph program after watching the video.
-
Clearly a bunch of runners on here that are in competition with Guelph.
You've 'lost respect' for the U of Guelph!? I'm assuming you're Canadian as most people here likely aren't familiar enough with the program to even give it respect in the first place.
However, in regards to the question of the post. Yes, a DQ. -
If someone intentionally cuts you off . . . you're wearing spikes, use them.
-
Take note: The club team is called "The Speed River New Balance Track and Field Club" So when you are racing this team keep your head up, elbows out and be ready to rumble!!!
If somebody pushes you...YOU PUSH BACK! -
They crossed the line. Complete dick move. At least 1 guy should be DQd...
