How old is the balding #8 in the orange top?
Let's make this the live thread. Race underway.
Eliud Kiphcoge looking relaxed in front.
Answering my own question:
8 Peter Kirui KEN 59:22
Hard to believe that dude could go sub-60.
The commentary is not exactly world class, either.... Nice of them to have the race on line for free, though.
The video has been void of commentary for the past 8 minutes. Just dead air watching them run.

The commentator is Tim Hutchings who does all the pro meets in the US. However he also is the finish line announcer. Hopefully they can get him focusing just on the broadcast. I think the sound is out now.
Men hit 5k in a modest 14:32
Women. I'm not sure. They all may not be wearing timing chips. Website shows one runner Worknesh Degefa at 15:43. They hit 3k at 9:19 so if that time is accurate they slowed a little 3k-5k.

No fans either. It's a silent race. No distractions
so much for "world's fastest".

14:32 is only 61:20 pace.
I'm surprised we can't hear Hutchings. We were really pumped to hear how he was doing that meet and Millrose on Saturday #frequentfliermiles.
Stream went black.
Also, it appears they are using a drone as a camera angle above the men. Very cool angle as it is filming them from about 20 feet ahead and 20 feet above.
More than 2min off WR pace by 10k already...
Diego Estrada would tear these guys apart.
28:54 or so for the men at 10k. 10 guys still together.
Does that sound fast to you?
It's not. They threw up a stat that during the WR run, the 10k was hit in 26:4?.
14:22 for the 2nd 5k so it's getting faster.
28:54 is only 60:58 pace.
Even that 14:225k is only 60:37 pace.
Women are on WR pace. World's best was set last year and they split 31:08. Today the split was 31:07. Mary Keitany going after it.
kinda neat how mary keitany is being paced by her husband #20. She'll break the WR on his heals.
34:40 at 12k for men 5:46 last 2k for men. That's 14:25 5k pace.
Correction wejo. The first 10k in the half marathon world record was 27:53. The 26:44 is from Leonard komon's 10km road race in the Netherlands. It wasn't an en route time the 26:44.
At any rate, the stream is high quality and I personally like Hutchings so that's a bonus.
FYI, if the women continue at the same pace they were on through 10k (65:38), they'll miss the WR. They may have been ahead of the WR split, but that's because Florence Kiplagat picked it up a lot in the second half of that race.
I don't know why the hell I am staying up for this...That's the power of the livestream I guess.
