I hate the cynicism on these boards. She's clean, and when she retires with a clean slate, along with the rest of NOP, all you'll be left with is your cynicism.

There's no such as an nop hater. Just realists.

A women who ran 4:00.33 in 2008, and at the same locale six years later ran 3:59.49, now runs 4:22 (=4:03-04?), and so at this point you conclude she's not clean, and accuse others of not paying attention. One thing message boards teach is how widespread a lack of intelligence is.

You have to admit that this was a great weekend for NOP (except Rupp).

Levins looked amazing. So did Hasay. I didn't see Centro or Rowbury run, but Centro helped set the DMR WR and Rowbury was dominant.

While Cain got smoked by Wilson, she dropped about 5 secs off her indoor PR. Not too shabby.

I was impressed with Hasay and Levins. I'm no expert, but their form looked impeccable. They looked like different athletes.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rowbury vs Simpson. And Hasay in the 10K in a few months.

He is a good coach but far from "best coach period". That title goes to whoever is coaching the Africans to gold medals and world records on a regular basis. Salazar has yet to do that.

While I'm not throwing around "best coach" titles, Salazar also hasn't been working with a huge stable of highly talented and motivated runners that he can risk burning out like the African coaches are. He's working with a minority of talented American runners, many of whom are not trying to escape poverty, and who he cannot replace with ten more if he injures them.

Salazar gets far better recruits than those African coaches. He brings in guys that have already run at a world/national class level and/or already have medals. Rupp is the only guy he has brought in that wasn't already world/national class and that took him 10 years. He also has the backing of a billion dollar company with access to all of the types of treadmills, doctors, shoulder harnesses, and sports psychologists. The fact that no one has to worry about poverty is an argument that supports my statement not yours. Or do you really think that lack of food and money is an advantage when trying to recover from workouts???

He has it way better than African coaches.

You make a good point but I don't think you understand the NOP haters. There is basically ZERO reason to hate the NOP for their performance. It's incredible.

The people that don't like the NOP because they think they are dirty. What has sports taught them for the last 20+ years? If something seems too good to be true - whether Lance, Bonds, Ben Johnson, etc - it was too good to be true.

So I don't think Levins double is going to change their opinion at all. I think it will just make them double down.

In my mind, there are two possible views of the NOP for most people.

1) What you state. Alberto is truly amazing and figured out a way to develop speed that no one else has.

2) They have a pharmaceutical edge - that may or may not be legal - that makes them do stuff others can't do.

(The third view would be they collect the very best talent but I certainly wouldn't put Mo Farah or Cam Levins in that category before they got to Alberto)

The lovers are in camp #1, haters in camp #2.

The people in camp #2 watch that race and think, "What in the hell besides pharmacology could Alberto have figured out that allows a man to pull of a double like that in less than 30 minutes?" If anything, Levins double might make them more of haters as they just don't see how a double like that is physiologically possible.

It makes sense to me that their are 'lovers' and 'haters'. Alberto has clearly either figured something out that no other coach has figured out or something medical related is going on. Most people have 1 of those 2 views.

It's kind of like how people view the Patriots. They either are smarter than everyone else or cheaters.
