While I was out on a 10-miler yesterday, I got to thinking...
Why do you guys think that most runners tend to have better times in relay races (their individual splits) as opposed to open races?
Me personally, my PRs in the 800 and 400 came in relay events (granted, this was in HS as I'm a 5k/10k guy now).
Do you think its more attributed to the "not wanting to let the team down" idea? Or maybe because there is more adrenaline flowing as you watch your teammates race around the track while you wait? Or just pure coincidence?
Thoughts?
