I had an experience this weekend that was pretty surprising, but I won't share details until I hear a few responses. How old? How old is too old to be playing beer pong?

Over 30 is DEFINITELY too old. It's kinda alright if you're a grad student in your mid-20s and you're at a party with beer pong, but once you get to 28, 29, it's time to move on to "greener pastures."
If you want to do it, do it. If you don't want to do it, don't do it.
I don't see the point in making arbitrary age rules. If you are 90 years old and can still play beer pong, go for it man! Have fun in life.

If you're a man? Probably into your 40's.
If you're a woman? You'd be disgusted and repulsed with that juvenile sight at any age.
27 is too old unless you live at home, but its still pathetic.
What is all this MOOSE SHIT about age restrictions?!?
I'm 39 and I don't play beer pong, but that's simply because I'm a germaphobe. Those drunk morons are always letting the ball fall off the table and onto the floor, rolling into some dirty corner. F*CK THAT SHIT!!!
If as I age and become even more senile than I am now, if I want to, you're damn tooting I'm going to play beer pong or drop acid or do whatever the hell I want to do. S*ck it!
doing whatever the f*ck I want wrote:

It's okay to admit that you've never been to a party where beer pong was being played. EVERYONE puts water in the cups and not beer. When the ball lands in a cup, you take a drink from your can/bottle. This is common knowledge. To answer the OP - 30 seems fair.

It's less playing beer pong and more the age of the people around you at the party, by your post I'm guessing you are 28 and ended up playing against some 17 year olds.

Nope.
The parties that I have attended in the past that had devolved into the playing of beer pong were played with the "balls in beer" technique. Dirty balls in the beer bitch! Perhaps I hang out with filthy people.

Do I still enjoy alcohol? Yes
Do I still enjoy games? Yes
Then as long as other people still want to play, I'll keep playing.
Mid-30's here. I will say that we go to fewer parties these days, so if we do play, it's because a bunch of friends are hanging out and we just want to have some fun. The whole dynamic of getting drunk, going out, hitting on females, having shenanigans changes once you and most of your peers are married. After that alcohol is just to relax and enjoy your free time with friends, of which there is less.
I'll echo the guy above. I still play beer pong, still play ring toss, still play corn hole - all with beer of course.
I just play it with 30-40-somethings with nice clean houses, beer that cost more than $5 a 12 pack, conversation that is actually worth hearing, and a woman by my side who I already know will have sex with me (wifey).
There is nothing wrong with playing games. There is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol responsibly. There is something "wrong"ish about being 10-15 years older than all the underage doofuses the OP was probably playing with. Yeah, we were all underage doofuses too, but there comes a time...

Drunks are such a bore.
23. Grow up
What's up with all of the people with sticks up their butts? Bunch of kiddies in their mid-20s trying to declare to the world that they're all grown up and "serious".
24 here, but always kind of felt beer pong was boring, maybe because I suck, or maybe because I'd rather be having a conversation...if I'm hanging out with people who I don't care to hear what they have to say, than I rather be home with my dog.
30 is the cut off age for all things fun. After that you have to lie about your age, stay home and get married or sober up.
Never too old to throw them back and party hard BRO. I still get invited with my soon to be wife to go to Pub Crawls, Beer Pong parties, whatever. We are both in our mid-30's and have great careers.
