this is probably surplus equipment, sent to these nations by NIKE (which provides the FM teams, their singlets). Doubtful that there is any connection whatsoever, other than this. This is a cool find.

Pretty cool that he's following US high school X-C, but I wonder what the folks at Adidas thought of that little green swoosh on his singlet over the "FM"?

A jersey is a cow in my parts and you would be shot if you referred to a uniform as a "kit". Also, nobody over the age of 5 would be caught dead wearing a "jumper".

In America, a jersey refers to a uniform shirt. As you can see from this thread (except the subject line) most Americans call a runner's uniform shirt/jersey a singlet. It looks like the British call it a "vest" because the original running shirts were actually plain white undershirts that Americans call wifebeaters/tank tops. So you call a sleeveless undershirt a vest but not a running vest which comes from a sleeveless undershirt, You call a vest a shirt as well then have to say button down shirt to differentiate, just admit you took a sensible language and messed it up

We call it a vest because it does not have sleeves
