What American has run faster than Webb's 3:53 mile in the last 3 years?

Old School,
Krum has run the equivalent of 3:49.

I simply think, and this is just another opinion (duh!) that he made a mistake by leaving MI and that will hurt him in the long run, that he will not be able to repeat his early achievements. It has happened before and it will happen again and the only reason we care is because of his one accomplishment. I'll frankly be happy to be wrong.
Interesting. Based on last year's performance it is easier to make an argument that he made a mistake by ATTENDING Michigan last year and that he will improve now that he's back with his HS coach.
My attempts to bust your nuts comes more from the fact that your argument is based on really no basis other than 'I have a feeling'.
Should Webb level off at say 3:38 - 3:40 this year than I would be more inclined to agree with you.
To all the individuals who are mentioning Webb and the other Americans perhaps you all should read and think about the question this thread ask, "WHO WILL WIN THE WORLD 1500m?". It is absolutely absurd to mention any of them ESPECIALLY ALAN WEBB. I am an American and I still have enough common sense to know that it would take a MIRACLE for any of our 1500m team to win the Gold (even Kummenacker). Our entire 1500m corp of runners can't match Kenyan teenagers: Alex Kipchirchir, Michael Too, or Cornelius Chirchir; therefore, it is EXTREMELY SILLY to mention them in this thread. Try creating a thread like, "
American most likely to make World 1500m Final". Anyone who is offended by this post, will be offended by the truth!!!

I guess that it is a good thing that @ WC's our americans won't be racing their teenagers huh. Just by looking at past history nothing is guaranteeded, and on any given day anyone can beat anyone. Example: This past Olympics El G had the final all but won when Ngeny beat him. Want another, how about in Korea when Billy Mills won 10k he wasn't even expected to be in the final. I by no means am trying to bring you down or belittle on the board, I am just saying that even though we aren't @ the very top yet you can't count out the americans out. My money is still on either Krum or McMullen in the top three.
HONESTLY, I HOPE WE DO HAVE A MEDALIST; however, the thread
isn't about miracles but about who have the best chance of winning (I would assume based on talent and racing savy).
The young Americans have the ability to blossom into possible medalist but not as soon as 2003 (except maybe a bronze by Kumm or McMullen) and thats not winning as the thread inquried.
