Do you mean an agent, or the elite athlete coordinator for a big race like NYCM?

I meant specifically an agent for athletes, but I guess elite athlete coordinator as well.
No, a law degree is not necessary. No degree is necessary. Being an agent, whether it's sports or entertainment, is one of those careers where your results speak more than your education. Jos Hermens was formerly an athlete of renown and fell into the career. It's like asking if it's necessary to have a degree to be a rock star. Not sure how old you are or what your life experiences are but as you get older you find that unless you are a doctor or engineer, etc people do not care where you went to school or what you studied. They look at your RESULTS and previous work successes.

In Canada, most elite athlete co-ordinators...from Alan Brookes to Lynn Canuka-Williams are former athletes who achieved good results.Canuka-Williams especially, who medalled at the LA Olympics in the 3000m.Similar to the other comment...agents are kind of sales people for their athletes. Sure, there are lawyers on the payroll of course, but your job is more of a people role. You deal with the flights, the medical needs, the hotels, the insurance, etc.
