I've been a Cowboys fan longer than most posters here have been on this earth. They beat a Jets team with a backup QB. Let's not get too excited yet. The Cowboys only have two tough games... 49ers week five and Eagles week 8... in the first half of the season. They should get to December around 10-2, but the Eagles are likely to be better.
I have been impressed with McCarthy's playcalling and game planning so that's a reason to be optimistic.
The Cowboys have a history of feasting on mediocre teams early in the season and then when they face an opponent of equal ability, they fall apart & lose.
I'm a Cowboys fanatic since 1972 (SB VI was first football I watched). I tend to agree with you. The team is good on both sides, but will likely need to improve slightly in terms of downfield passing. Hard to win a conference title throwing 6-8 yard passes. I think this can be corrected. Gallup can help with this.
I haven't been overly impressed with very many teams so far, but it's fair to say that the Cowboys and 49ers have looked the best through the first two weeks. I'm still confident that they'll lose in the divisional round because that's what they always do, and Dak turns into Kirk Cousins in big moments.
Didn't age well? It's the same story every year with this team. They get all the talk about this is the year they go to the Superbowl and then nothing. Jerry Jones get the karma for firing Jimmy Johnson. The Hex won't be removed until Jimmy is put in the cowboys ring of honor. Oh and they find a QB that doesn't throw so many interceptions.

3 Playoff wins in about 30 years. That is all you need to know. Jerry needs to be removed as GM. To pay Zeke Elliot and Dak Prescott tens of millions was just ridiculous. They are average players.
I'll go ahead and jinx them but someone tell me what team is better than your Dallas Cowboys.
Tremendous game. They 1) gave up a blocked kick for a touchdown 2) a dropped punt for a score and a 3) dropped snap for a score
And still beat Seattle on the road.

The beauty of this 9 year old post is that it reflects the Cowboy fans attitudes for the last 10 to 15 years. At the beginning of the year they so frequently think, this is the year of the Cowboys. They might be the best in the NFL .
This year was no different. But again they are crushed. They were so filled with false hope when Dallas killed the hapless Giants.

I remember when Tom Landry alternated Craig Morton with Roger Staubach back in 1971. The first game I still remember was the 1976 Super Bowl. I was overseas. The game was on Armed Forces Radio, but the signal didn't reach to my home. I drove to a hillside and sat in my truck and listened to the game.
I'm afraid that Kurt Warner was right when he analyzed the Cowboys playoff loss to the 49ers two years ago. He pointed out several mistakes Dak made, but they boiled down to this... Dak can't read defenses. McCarthy's Texas Coast offense with short passes was most likely designed to give Dak quick passes and fewer reads. Dak seems like a nice guy... lots of charity off-the-field stuff, but it's time for the Cowboys to move on. They need to draft a QB.

No less success than your Texans.
Touche - but we have learned not to expect anything. It has been about 62 years since the Houston football team won anything of significance. But Luv ya blue was a nice period.
