I agree. That autoplay sucks.

Professional runners and college xc/track kiddos may not have laptops with enough memory to deal with the videos on auto play. Sometimes there's a flash or shock wave error and you have to close out of the letsrun forum. It's terrible.

Are you really this obtuse?
Why the f_ck do you not use AdBlock all the time?
Its on obvious you are the one that doesn't get it. Turn adblock on and stfu already.
You will be a lot safer if you go to East St Louis or the worst parts of Chicago if you were wearing a bullet proof vest and your girlfriend has a chastity belt on her twat, ass and mouth...or you could just not go to those places because they are too dangerous for the typical white boy and girl. This site is so dangerous that you have no choice, you have to protect yourself or you will get a virus. I don't want my favorite website to be such a whore with every popup ad that it's safer to go to the nastiest porn sites.
The BroJos are good people. I met them in 2002 when we watched the USATF 10K together at Stanford. I understand the website/message board get a ton of hits because it's basically a free-for-all around here. Those hits make them money. I don't fault them for that. At the same time, I feel the free-for-all/money correlation is the main reason the website and message board are so terrible.
Do either of y'all have real jobs anymore?
I resisted getting Ad Block for a while because I want to support the sites I visit. Sadly, this one is just SO BAD -- one of the worst I've seen -- that I had to give in. Sorry, Brosjo.
I don't think anyone here would deny that the Letsrun forums are the crappiest forums on the net. They're straight out of 1999.

So that means you won't come here anymore. Good.

No, it means we will still put up with the worst message board on earth. They make money and have no desire to improve this place because it's a place for people to fling poo. That don't give a rats ass about running and damn sure don't care about the writing. Click click click is all that matters. Just wish they would bring it into the 21st century.
Beating a dead horse here, but why-tf would people that regularly use the internet not have AdBlock installed? It takes 2min tops with the help of Google. We're not even talking about old people here since most on this site know how to use technology. SMH.
The problem for them isn't really that we'll stop coming. It's that they're actively driving away new visitors (who don't have adblock). Imagine coming here as a kid interested in running? The ancient software is actually kinda nice IMO, but on top of that there's autoplay video ads WITH sound on every page, plus banner ads, side banner ads, popover ads. New visitors are going to think it's scammy.

or those who can't stand staring at the anal fissure that is the design of these forums (and main site, but I'll admit it's much better).

You are the one who doesn't understand. Adblock prevents companies from generating revenue through ads. For a small company this can be the difference between making money and going out of business.
I don't want to use adblock for certain sites I support and I have some philosophical issues with it in general. I'm willing to put up with most of the ads on this site but the ones with autoplay recordings are incredibly annoying.

I use ad blok not only because of the amount of annoying ads, but also because at least one of the LR advertisers is using canvas fingerprinting (I assume this is beyond the technical competence of the brosjo) to identify users.

You think that is bad. When I get on this dump using my phone, an ad will come up that covers HALF of the screen. The problem is that I have NO way to get rid of it. It shows a big X on the add, but doesn't actually delete the ad.
HEEEEEYYY brosjo! This happens to me as well. Also, half of the posts are running off the right half of the screen on chrome and dolphin.

I\'m convinced you are trolling, because unless you are posting from a sanitarium, it\'s not possible to be as stupid as you.

brojos say: jobs? trustafarians ain't not need no stinkin jobs.
The mouse-over ads that then block text in a letsrun forum discussion are also a problem. I'm talking about the ads where your mouse arrow accidentally hovers over the ad and causing a drop down ad to appear (sometimes with animation) that covers the text so that you cannot read the topic of discussion in these forums.
There are ads on the Internet? Live and learn.
