Physical therapy is exercise. If you don't understand the correct principles of exercise, you can't be a decent therapist. All the modalities like ice, heat, ultrasound, EMS, etc. that most therapists include as the backbone of their regimens are completely worthless quackery. Any therapist who touches you with an ultrasound wand is a hack. Any therapist who prescribes stretching exercises is a hack. Any therapist who tells you to do strengthening exercises daily, or who prescribes strengthening exercises that are so unchallenging that you can do them all day, is a hack. Any therapist who tries to put crap in your shoes like orthotics is a hack unless you're an old lady just trying to get around. Any therapist who has you do aerobic exercises like stationary cycling is a hack. Any therapist who has you do anything like balance exercise or ballistics is a hack. Any therapist who claims that he can analyze your "biomechanics" is a charlatan. Pretty much the only two things that a therapist can do for you are apply AGGRESSIVE strengthening exercises and teach you how to do certain actions correctly; anyone who tries to do much more than that is a hack. And if you have anything in the way of a contrary opinion, you deserve what you're getting from our medical system—ripped off.
