How far are you willing, or do you travel, to do most of your runs on a trail? For me a decent trail ( 3 miles around a lake on single track) is six miles away. If I repeat the loop two or three times I've had a great workout.

My favorite trail, which I do a couple times during the week, is about 20 minutes away along country roads.
On the weekends I usually make two trips to the local national park, which is about 30 minutes by highway.
I have a beautiful series of wooded trails within a few miles of my house, but the local university is planning to pave over them to build an indoor football facility.
I am willing to drive 30-60 minutes to run on trails.
