October 9, 1983 15th Freedom Marathon, (Monticello, Illinois) 2:47:49
January 15, 1995 Houston Marathon, 2:46:54
Didn't go back to figure the leap years, but I come up with 4,113 days. Anyone else have a similar gap btw marathon prs?

You are even longer than that. Rather than 365 days/yr just count 365.25 (which is really how long a year is).
There were leap years in 84, 88, 92.
Jenny Spangler? Congratulations nonetheless.
It took you over 11 years to get a minute better? Just kidding! Goodjob. Both faster than me.
I went 28 years 2 months between marathons, but didn't PR. Don't think I will be able to PR anyone.
(1973 bandited North Central Marathon. Now I pay for my races!)
First Marathon: May '84 -- 2:45
Next Marathon: July '97 -- 2:41
That's also a bit longer than Spangler's span between Twin Cities '83 and the '96 Trials.
And my most recent marathon was a 2:37, so I still have the trend going in the right direction.
june 15 1979 3:12:58 age 17 place (283) 1st marathon
june 15 2003 2:48:23 age 40 place (7) 10th marathon
24 years x 365 = 8760
will pr again sub 2:45 (Tampa 2005)
Manitoba,
You make me look like a lightweight. First marathon at age 30 in 1990 - 4:01:33 broke that last fall at Mystic with a 3:45:xx, but knew I had better in me. 4 weeks later 3:39:xx at Philly. Your early start give you a distinct edge here.
Wayne B. Was first marathon was not a good experience. Did not run my second until 1999. like you it is nice to be running PR's later in life. Kinda wish I had run in my 20's and earlier 3o's to see what my times might have been like. Enjoy your 40's and your marathon's to come.
Made a mistake now that I look back, my first race was 1980 not 1979.
Pueblo River Trail marathon in like 1984 or 83...maybe 82..?....while living in a trailer on the Yampa River in Steamboat Springs...totally unfit in a haze of booze and drugs...
Next marathon I was clean and I think it was 2001 the Shamrock marathon in Virginia Beach...I have since run 6 more...
WOW, that's impressive.
1st marathon 1990: Age 27 WhiteRock 3:04
14th marathon 2002: Age 38 Boston 2:56
15th marathon 2003: Age 39 Chicago 2:56
I'm going for the gusto in '05 @ Boston sub 2:50!
Then I'll follow up with a 2:45 in '05 in Chicago for that magical guaranteed NYC entry in '06. Where I'll run a PB. After that, I don't care. I'll die a happy man.
