i don't think they change very often
I think a lot of years you can get in the distance races if you just run around the qualifiying time. Usually they are looking to fill out the field last minute. I know some guys who just entered with times that didn't meet the standard. They didn't find out til the day before the race whether they were going to get to run but they did run. I think usually an 8:05-8:10 or 4:02-4:05 will get you into the 3k or mile but those are just below the standard. For example Pyrah, Tessman and Towle all ran about 4:04 last year to qualfy but the standard was 4:01.
They are working on the entry booklet right now and it should be available by mid-november. Expect the standards to be pretty much what they were last year.
well, it always semmed to me that they would let people in if they had been there the previous year or had some sort of reputation. pyrah was out of shape last year, but he's a big name so i undersand them letting him in. i don't have a big name, so i'm sure i'll have to hit the mark.
