Massage, Stretch, Foam Roller, "The Stick", Roll them on a soup can, roll them on a ball. Plenty of solutions out there buddy, you'll figure it out..
What about switching shoes or training surfaces?
Massage, the painful type. Dig your fingers into those tight muscles and untighten them.
I have frequent calf soreness and tightness. I use the StepStretch daily. It is important to do straight leg and bent leg stretches to work the upper and lower muscles and tendons. Lower profile (racing or lighweight) shoes put more stress on your calves. So it can be a problem to train in a high-healed shoe and then race in a flat. However, you should work on this transition in the longer term. High heeled shoes will weaken your achilles and calves. Beyond the stretching, massage, the stick, etc, will help. Good luck.
Try looking into the cause. Could be from an electrolyte imbalance caused from sweating a lot combined with diuretics (beer, coke, coffee, etc.). I've had good luck with salt tablets and Gatorade. Seems like I get washed out drinking just water. Not so much a problem for me in the winter (Indiana) as in the summer because I don't sweat as much. Good luck.
