Clearly plenty of talent and depth. Why did the Adams State guy transfer?
DREW TRUSTY???
Nobody outside of the GLIAC even knows who Drew Trusty is. Actually, a decent amount of people in the GLIAC don't know who he is. Gimme a break. Malone fan boys. Come back to letsrun when you have won something other than the Disney Invite.
good grad program for what he is doing I believe.
Oh well good for him. Good luck to him and his current as well as former team. Should be a great season for both teams.
Greatest comment on this thread. I don\\\'t know you, but I love you
Me?
PS bump
Anyone else feel like Ashland may have the best chance anyone's had in a long time to dethrone Grand Valley? Here is what they've got:
Brian Baum, Sr. - 3:46 / 8:25 / 2014 GLIAC XC runnerup
Charlie Michel, So. - 9:15 3200 in HS / 5th at GLIAC XC last year
David Knack, Jr. (Tiffin transfer) - 8:31 / 14:40 / 31:02 / 13th at GLIAC XC in 2012
Nick Hall, Jr. (Lake Erie transfer) - 3:50 / 1:53 / 10th at GLIAC XC last year
Jake Sussman, Sr. - 4:09 / 8:28 / 16th at GLIAC XC in 2012
Isaac Potes, Sr. - 15:06 / 15th at GLIAC XC last year / 62nd at nationals in 2013
Drew Windle, Sr. - 1:46 / 3:44 / improved a lot in the 1500 this spring, could be a factor on a flat 8K course in Tiffin
They have nowhere near the depth of GV, but on a good day that top-5 could run with GV's. Not rooting for one team or the other, but it would be nice to see a close race for a change.
Unfortunately for them it's a confirmation through the winds that Michel is not returning to XC. Also, the GLIAC race will not be at the flat course all Ohio highschoolers came to love as "PR City", Tiffin is setting it up in a hilly as* location. Michigan Tech caliber? HA! I don't think so.
The fact that its a hilly course plays into ashlands favor really well. they're a strength based team with a group of hard workers. Hall, Baum, and sussman all just ran a road race where Baum ran something like a 30 second course PR (Twitter). Those guys are hungry and they have a few seniors that obviously have a bad taste in their mouth from last year. Baum should be at the least a 1x all American in xc but it just hasn't worked out. He can run though. Out in 4:28 at 2012 ncaas wrecked his chances but he'll be there this years along with all of his teammates. Keep an eye on those boys
Maybe a closer second than most years, but they won't dethrone Grand Valley. Ferris and Malone will also be battling for the second position.

Agree. Ashland is a mid-distance team. They might put it together on the day with all that talent on a flat course and make it interesting. Which would be a tight race upfront until 4 miles.
Ashland has no distance depth whatsoever.
Do they have one runner that has run 14:30 or 30:45 even?
You Ashland and Malone people should get off this board on threads like this. I'm surprised your coach doesn't crack down on you more for that like the real programs do.
Malone is malicious on social media, running2win, and forums such as this.
On a lighter note I look forward to big improvements out of Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State. Neither of the two will compete for top 3, but a 5 and 8 finish is not out of the cards.
A hilly course plays very well into the strength of GV. Still, Ashland definitely has to be the top challenge for GV this year at conferences. Should be a good one.
Why did Nick Hall transfer to Ashland?
Does anyone have the Adams State to Grand Valleys transfers times'?
Luterbach has run 14:26 for 5k and placed 15th at 2012 xc nationals.
I do agree with interest to find out where those lower ranked teams see improvements this year. What will Reneker do at Lake Erie college?
You all could just read Luterbach's r2w log and find out that he's running for gvsu now.
