Just saw on facebook the Music City Distance Carnival entries he is running the mile. His new blog makes it seem like he is able to enjoy running once again. Blog says he has only been training for a few months and is using the race to get “the rust off” … “In order to get myself out of my comfort zone we felt there was no better way to start back than jumping in head first. Would it be pretty? … Probably not! But all new stories have to begin somewhere.” Does not really say anything about trying for a comeback. Seems like he finally got the injury under control according to the video of he and his p.t. Interesting and brilliant that these two would be working together. Should we expect a comeback? Either way I am glad he is able to run and will be rooting for him. But do hope a comeback is in the future. Any insider information?
Josh McDougal comeback? Coach Steve Magness?

He is indeed on the list. Hope that he is on a comeback. Super talented and still young. -
Nate Brannen FTW

I think he tried to make a comeback a few years ago, not sure how that went.

When is Magness going to make a comeback? Or is he not able to compete because of his TUE exemption and inhalers?

Good to see Lex Williams also continue his comeback. -
Josh Grogan is also on the start list. Is this a celebrity run?

Yes indeed, he's probably unable to compete because of his "Therapeutic Use Exemption" Exemption. A TUE normally gives you the right to compete, but as we all know a TUEE exempts you from the exemption.
PS what TUE do you think he had? Keeping in mind that there is no need for a TUE for thyroid hormones. -
Magness stays in good shape. Hops into a road race every once in a while. But looks like he just has fun helping out push his top guys every once in a while.

I got in really good shape then had an achilles tendonitis set back.
I've raced once in the past year a turkey trot where I took down one of Oklahoma State's runners. So I jokingly like to say I could still make OSU's national team...
But I do a lot of pacing, and so far I can still destroy Brian and Yonas on tempo runs and they've run 1:48.4 and 14:13 for 5k...So the "old man strength" is still there!! Last year we did mile reps, where Yonas and I worked down to where the last one was 4:15. I led every step of the way to help him out, then the last 400 he made a big move to go, and for a split second I thought "damn, yonas is fit, this is awesome...and I'm done.." but I snapped myself out and caught him in the last 100m. After that I rabbited Yonas for 1,100m of his 3:46 1,500m. So, my guys keep me young!
If I get over the achilles thing I'd like to take a shot at a half marathon. I was planning on doing one earlier and had thought I was in right under 1:05 shape based ona a hard/hilly 5mi tempo course we do regularly which I ran in 24:10 or so. So if I get back to that shape I'll try and knock a half out! -
Good to see him competing once in a while. I remember when he was on so many medications trying to figure out his phantom GI tract and thyroid issues. Amazed he was able to compete in high school on all those meds.

I hope he makes a comeback. He is one elite I will be rooting for.

Any results from this?

Steve Magness will return him to greatness! Hands down he's the greatest coach.

Looks like it was postponed until today. Mile races scheduled for 11:40 am.

Did he ever break 4? If not, he should see if he can do it. "My goal of sub-four minute mile - I will not stop until I reach my goal." -
4:10 is a great result! I bet Solinsky couldn't touch 4:10 right now. Maybe we'll see Josh competing later in the summer.
