Just curious. Many, like myself who ran in college then quit running for a while after settling down, getting a job, marriage, and kids.....then started back several years down the road.
I myself was just average, competed at 135, got up to 170 then started training again last year and am now about 145.
I am still in college but had to take 9 months off because off an injury. I was at 165 and got up to 207. At the end of XC i was back to 168
i stopped running for about 18 months after graduation. ballooned up to 205 from 160. am now about 168 and falling. too many guiness on too many tuesdays.
End of highschool weighed less than 130. Ballooned up to 205 on 5'7" in 5 years. Dropped it back to under 130(low of 122) after taking up running a couple of years later. Just run to stay in shape now and am about 145.
High school weight 144
4 years of college drinking, as well as 9 years of a pack a day of Marlboros. Balloon to 213.
Currently 179, and Marlboro free.

Ran in college at 119. Ballooned up to 181 by January 2001. Finally focused and lost 53 pounds and now run at 128. Physical maturity and weight lifting probably prevent me from getting down to 119 again. I'm about as far down as I want to go right now, but I can easily gain 5-15 pounds and then I just have to focus and get it off again.
Running alone doesn't do it for me. I was a runner all the time I gained those pounds, just not a fast one at 181. For my age (36), I am once again fast.
Who needs to lose more weight, Ritz or Webb?
I am always within 5 lbs of racing weight, even if I'm injured. I would never lose so much pride in myself, where I would gain significant weight, due to laziness.
...Oh yea....I weigh 165 and am at 4% body fat....whether I'm injured or not. I have never weighed more than 172.

I just cannot fanthom putting on 40 lbs, while having pride in myself. My metabolism has slowed greatly in the past 3-4 years and I have been shelved/injured for long periods of times. But I kept my body type the same always, even when it meant eating more frequent, but smaller meals daily and changing my protein/fat/carb ratio and giving up alcohol. My health and appearance are that important to me.
I guarantee that I will never gain 30 lbs over the course of my life, unless it is all muscle, or until I'm at least 80.
I'm not being aloof or confrontational, but that's how I think.
TTC- In all honesty I really respect that, a lot of people should have that same attitude about their bodies.
Who has gained the most weight in the shortest time?
I packed on 21 pounds in 8 weeks once.
No running, three squares a day, including a 12-pack and three a.m. breakfast at Country Kitchen every night.

How much weight can I expect to lose between now Dec 22 & early Aug? I weigh 176 now & race well at under 154 anybody with a clue?
I think I read once where ex-GBTC stud Randy Thomas put on weight quite easily and had to work his weight down occasionally. Isn't he coaching now? Is he tubby?

I gained 25 pounds in a year after my college days (trying to be a weight lifter) but you need to worry about David Bellar now. you better be in shape if you come to race in the Port city come March Marathon Boy :).
