I can't believe how stupid Meb, Ryan and Shalane are. Why do they have to lead 3 miles in? Is it because they know they have no hope to win, and need to get some TV time for their sponsors?
The local Boston feed is working for me in upstate NY, but the announcing and the constant updates on the wheelchair race are basically infuriating.
Leading in such a race is a recipe for disaster.
Desi is running her own race and running very smart. She's got no other choice.
I think most people would agree Desi's top end is not the same as Shalane's. Desi came within a quarter mile of winning in 2011, but nothing she has done would indicate she can run a 2:20 on a flat course. Remember the 2:22 in 2011 was the year the men ran 2:03.
So if they are running 2:17 she's got no choice but to stay back.
I haven't seen the women's race feed on either channel in 20 minutes.

The womens race coverage is a disaster.
ANy word on the women? I don;t like to see Meb leading, I seem to remember him doing this in the past and fading.
There will be a LOT of runners who didn't lead, & fade. Your guys' whining over her going for it is just that- whining.
god I hate Larry Rawson

I think it was his last 4th when he reached out and touched Merga at the finish line to let him know, "I could have zoomed by you at the line, but I didn't because it would have been in bad form."
Desi herself admits she is still on the way back from her femoral stress fracture, still trying ot get back to top form after that. Don't expect too much from her

Given all of the attention Boston is getting this year because of what happened last year, you'd think this would be a good chance to make the most of the broadcast. But no, let's just screw it up as usual.
They reported that Desi is 42 seconds back at 8 miles. That's not right. She was 1:22 behind at 10k according to the tracking.
They've lost the women's feed so the women's updates we are getting are from the cyclists.
Ryan Hall back pushing the pace. Time to show the women, please.

Red.
Feed sucks rofl. Women's feed doesn't exist, and the mens feed is going somewhere between 10 pixels and low definition.
Why is it that TV can't help but fvck up running coverage, unless it's BBC, and then if Mo is in the race they spend 75% of it talking about him.
