I ran these times a few years ago and haven't run much at all since. I decided I wanted to get back into it and am trying to figure out what my best event would be.
This was the order I ran the times in that year:
5k: 18:05
I ran the first my in 5:28 which was the fastest mile I had ever run in my life at that point. There was no split at the second mile mark so I don't know what my last 2 miles were. I did mentally give up a bit in the last 400. Even going out way too hard I definitely could have gone under 18 had I not b!tched out.
10k: 37:47
This was a solo run on the track with no one else around. I ran the first mile in 5:46. First 5k was in 18:28. I slowed down over the 4th & 5th miles but picked it up in the last mile.
**2 months of no running from an injury**
I then started running every other day or so starting with 1 mile and then building up to about 5 miles/day or so over the next month. I then spent 1 month of running easy on a treadmill about 5 days a week. Then about 2 weeks later...
1500: 4:55.2
This was the first track race of my life and I was way out of shape. It was also run on a 160m banked track so I had no sense of pacing. I went out way too hard because I just followed the guys in front of me before dying hard. The race was won in 4:15 and I ran the last 200m or so at about 6:45 mile pace.
