I think Salazar's appeal has been upheld and Gabe has been DQ'd
Whining about dirty racing is an excuse for losers. If you get knocked down, fair, that's dirty. If you get bumped or jostled, come on. Champions get over it and win, losers whine about it and file protests.
I don't get the protest/appeal process.
Salazar/Nike can appeal the appeal of the initial appeal but when USATF finally fold to the pressure, Gabe has no redress?
Genuinely wondering what the process is.

DQ has been put through, apparently. Gabe is out, Nike wins.

God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. I will FIGHT the #USATFCorruption.
I watched several races she has run in as well and I cannot see how you do not know she is excessively aggressive. I watched the race today. Both the contact with Shannon and Jordan was unnecessary. They were out in front of the pack and it wasn't crowded, it seemed like Gabe thinks it is okay to just shove people instead of going around. While she may have been the best in the field today, that doesn't excuse her tactics. She deserves the DQ and needs to learn from it and learn how to race fairly. She shouldn't have to race like and A__ if she is the best racer in the field.
I just don't understand why she didn't go out to Lane 2 to pass Hasay, etc. Why run through people? Makes no sense. Even Hutchings said she should be DQ'd, "running like a wind-up toy and out of control".

LOL!!!!!!! What an idiot.
Anxiety. Agitation.
Symptom of excess thyroid hormone.
Ridiculous protest by Alberto.
Would he have wanted Gebrselassie to have been disqualified in the 1993 World Champs?
Here's the race video. Fast-forward to about 10:00 when they hit the bell:

Slow-motion replay is at 11:15. Gabe was following a little too closely, moved outside and clipped Hasay's backkick. Doesn't look too bad to me, definitely not DQ-worthy.
I've watched it a couple of times and my initial reaction was that Hasay cut Gabe off, but it's not as easy to see as I thought it was initially. As they approached the bell, Hasay was moving to the outside of lane 1 as if to move onto Rowbury's shoulder, and Gabe stayed on the rail. After the bell, Rowbury starts to move, and Hasay can't stay with her so she moves back into the inside of lane 1 where Gabe is. Gabe doesn't seem so close to Hasay that she is really cut off, but if she is focusing on Rowbury and accelerating as one would try to do on the last lap, then she has her expected lane cut off by Hasay, although she may not have established a right to that lane by being closer at the bell so I don't know if Hasay knew how close Gabe was. I assume Gabe was trying to win, and Hasay just got in the way of her catching Rowbury, which looked like a real threat at the bell considering Rowbury's 1500m speed.
As for why Gabe nearly ran into Rowbury on the backstretch, I have no idea. That was just bizarre. It cost her some momentum and she clearly could have gone around her before the curve where it's harder to pass. She impeded herself about as much as she impeded Hasay, and she was still able to win by a wide margin. Cool to watch although I love Rowbury and Hasay!

Almost any coach under similar circumstances would file a protest...this is part of your job as a coach.

filing a protest is the proper thing to do.
Filing a protest?
Fine.
Appealing the denial of your protest?
Um...
Appealing the denial of the appeal of your denied protest?
Anyone who has coached will know this is NOT the proper thing to do. Did "new information come to light" that the original jury didn't see? No.
If the field of play officials, the arbiters of your protest, AND the jury addressing your appeal ALL said no foul, you need to call it a night.
The question is, who did Alberto call to get this taken to the next level?
Don't know what race you watched but there was no shoving. My advice is lay off the booze before turning on the TV or maybe find a good clinic to dry out

I agree completely. I just tuned in the telecast for the men's race so am just catching up with the women's video.
Hasay's lane position was uncertain. She was far enough out to invite an attempt to pass on the inside then she moved in as GG finally decided to move out.
Hard to tell if GG then clipped Rowbury's heels. No excuse for that because they were completely clear but any contact was minimal.
I'm usually the stickler and fully expected to support the DQ based on what people were saying. Bad decision.
Where's the foul??? Watched it over & over. No elbows, no pushing, no shoving, what's the deal? Absurd. OMG Just when USATF seemed like they were turning a corner. What a frigg'in shame. Man Salazar was pissed tonight & someone was gonna pay. Total bummer of an outcome (and I love Hasay!). Ugh
Looks dq worthy to me. She ruined Hasay's kick on the last lap. She just ran right into the back of her. And then did the same to Rowbury. I noticed Rowbury and Hasay did not congratulate her after the race.
I agree with this. It looked like she caught Rowbury unexpectedly quick, slowed for a moment, and then surged past.
You don't DQ a champion when they dominated that way. Wait until she plays dirty getting 3rd. She wasn't losing today if she had been the one getting hit.
Ridiculous that Salazar actually won. Hasay doesn't deserve shit for her run today. She was toast long before she got pushed by Gabe.
If Nike caved to AlSal's pout, they have drooling turds as PR people - when the race is reviewed twice as fair, then they pressure USATF to DQ a 2-time cancer survivor? That is about as putridly bad as you can get as far as press goes. Really awful move.
