I'm trying to figure out different ways to try and do some serious fundraising in order to possibly rebuild the track and field facility at my college. The college is a low budget DII program on Long Island where track and field is not even close to getting any notice. We have been trying to build up our relations with alumni but understandably many want little to do with the program since the school does not support the sport very well anymore. I however care a lot as do my current athletes and coaches so we are trying to change things.
It looks to me like a new facility would cost about 600,000 grand to do it right. The school has told me in the past that if I could somehow come up with half the money ($300,000 for those of us who are math challenged)that they would be willing to match the rest.
I was curious if any other coaches where in the same situation (piece of crap track) and what they did to try and raise funds. Car washes and bake sales probably won't cut it but I'm open to any ideas.
