The Legend of Galen Rupp will be greater than Pre or any other American distance runner.

"Boom!" goes the dynamite.
NO. Pre was a front-runner. Rupp is a follow-the-leader.

It's more important where you finish.
Pre RACED the best.
Rupp is setting American records against no international competition.
There is a reason Rupp is time trialing instead of running at the big pro meets this year, this way he can't get beat.
Yes, Rupp doesn't finish first in championship races. Never has.
Pre would consider Galen Rupp an even more despicable candy-ass than his enemy, Harold Norporth.

Candy-ass huh?
Does running a stupid race in the Olympics exclude one from that title?
How about getting drunk and driving ones MG into a rock, is that the kind of "blue collar" credential you are looking for?
Rupp is the runner I dreamed of being.
The greatest distance runners ElG,Geb,and Coe are more like Rupp than Pre. Talent and brains.

Pre wasn't noticeably drunk and his body wasn't tested by a doctor. The cops who hated him got up with that alcohol story. Read you running history, little boy.
Pre was never really that good. He's a Nike hype job

Do the cops hate Rupp???
Both Rupp and Norpoth have Olympic soilver medals. Pre wishes he was like them.
Not even close. Rupp is a far superior runner than Pre ever was. Silver in the Olympics. You can't compare many to that.

Right, keep the fables coming sporto then go rub another one out by your Pre poster.

Are you on drugs?? I haven't heard that one before and I have all of the Register-Guard articles from the crash and many weeks following.
I never read that in T&FN either.

Since when is World Indoors not a big pro meet?
If he doesn't end up racing any DL meets then I might agree with you...but there isn't any reason to think he won't be racing those.
The people of Oregon were well known for their hatred of Pre.
Prefontaine probably did dream of being 27 years old.
