You know I love ya dude, but Colorado ain't the only place to run in this world.
You are a good runner, lots of potential, but for you to make that kind of jump to sub 14 status you may need 3 years of hardcore uninterupted training. It is risky. Get injured while on your own and you'll end up drinking and smoking weed between your stints sweeping and mopping floors.
If you do make it you will only be top 7 for 1 maybe 2 years at most.
I was once your age(and I had hair), it is hard to concentrate on one target for 3-4 years without anything in return during the interim period.
Running and trainig is fun when you are "in the game".
Find a program where you can at least make the second group of guys immediately. Then you can have 3-4 years of "travel team" type of running.
Wetmore while a good coach is not the only coach.
Additionally, running without school or a decent job sucks.
I tried the running only deal. I hated it. I train much better while in school or fulltime working. (and you know the mileage I put in)
It comes down to this my pal. Don't dealy your eduaction. Don't throw away years that you can be on a team with your running buddies and joining the rest of the guys on the turf and track. It will simply be one of the best periods of your life. Intellectually, socially and athletically.
If you need help or ideas you know where to reach me.
Thing big train big, but set yourself up in the right environment to fertilize your dreams.
