I understand that they had a long period without running and then just getting back into it again.
I am not saying anything against them and I am not expecting Solinsky to go sub 27:00 after a year back in training, obviously.
I would just like to know (if possible with an explanation regarding physiology and maybe psychology) what are the exact factors that are getting in the way of a faster return to top performances.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Sometimes things just click for a few months and everything comes together. I know I had a stretch at the end of college from winter junior year to the end of senior year when everything basically broke right. By that I mean I fixed my diet was good, slept 8-10 hrs a night almost every night, classes were easy (no stress) had a huge base and started to really hit workouts right.
To run the times these guys ran you have to not just be really gifted but also have a lot going for you. After being injured it can be very hard to replicate that perfectly.
