I'm visiting Louisville next week for business and was wondering if anyone could point me to a public track for a workout. I saw a thread from years ago about this topic but I wanted a more up to date suggestion.
thanks

There are none, Louisville has sh*t in the way of public tracks. Seneca park has a 1.2 mile flat paved loop with 400m intervals marked off, I've done some intervals there before. It's paved so if you were wanting to do something in spikes you're sh*t out of luck.

Thanks. I might have to go there. How does a city that big not have one real public track?
Thanks

Yeah, it's bad. Plenty of tracks, just all locked.
Are there any that you would recommend jumping the fence at?
Many of the Jefferson county public high schools have tracks, though I'm not positive about when/if they are locked. You could try going to

to dig a little deeper.
One I know of for sure that's available is Fern Creek HS. There are gates, but they've been open every time I've gone there. I would just try to avoid the time period between 2-5 during the week (although it's unlikely they'll be using it anyway this time of year). Good luck
Where will you be staying/working? If downtown, a good alternative is the River path bike/running trail. It is marked every quarter mile with posts. It isn't a track but the path is paved and very flat. I've done a lot of good interval sessions 'down by the river'.
There is even one part that someone spray painted 100m marks for 1200m.
I think the track at DuPont Manual is left open and the fence is very jumpable. Manual is right across the street from the University of Louisville. Oldham County HS is just outside of Louisville, and I'm told they leave the gate open too.
Another option is the fitness path at EP Tom Sawyer. Our team will be training on it this Winter.
