Just about never race in socks whether it be cross or the track. Only time I do is if they're compression socks. I just like the feel better. I always like wearing as little as possible and it just looks clean and feels fast. Only issue is you can get blisters depending on the spikes.
No socks. Not even when training.
As you don't wash your shoes every day your shoes and feet will stink
I always wear crew socks unless I'm racing steeplechase. I tried socks in the steeple once and that didn't work out too well.
Never socks when in HS or college. I always liked the feel, but could also never understand why minimal-weight oriented runners would wear socks to race.
BTW-I would put prewrap around my middle toe the first meet of a season and never get a blister...but I did learn the hard way and still have scars from the stubbornness.
I don't with the matumbos and it's great. I used to have the mamba and it didn't work out well (not that they were bad spikes). Running without is supposed to help for traction purposes and lightness (which isn't a big difference obviously)
I wear socks. Nothing ruins a race like a blister.

Blisters go away if you train regularly without socks. Some shoes are rougher on the feet than others.
You know it's all personal preference in the end. I personally went without socks during track and wore cycling socks for cross country. If you feel like you have to wear socks I'd definitely give a pair of cycling socks a shot.
No socks ever. I live in the northeast and don't wear them in the winter either. No problems.
I'm just more comfortable.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
