I'm looking to run sub 14:45 in April or May. My 5k PR right now is 15:00 and I ran that a few weeks ago. I'm 20 and just train myself. I run around 50 mpw and am thinking of increasing to ~60 mpw. I do a lot of longer intervals and tempos, and haven't really gone under 1k repeats. Last week I ran a 12 mile progression in 67:40 with a 4:50 last mile and a 6 mile tempo in 32:20. The week before I did 3x3k averaging 10:00 with :60 rest, and a 3 mile tempo in 15:30.
I'm planning on just doing mostly longer intervals and running 3 races during the indoor season, probably a 5k, then mile, then 3k.
I ran the 800 for most of my high school career and ran 1:53 at 16, but I don't think I can run any faster (5'10, 130 lbs), so I moved up in distance.
Are there any workouts or plans that could help me reach my goal? Any advice would be appreciated.
