Wetmore did it again.
The Buffs with inferior talent won NCAAs again.
He's not the best recruiter. He's the best "coach" in the traditional sense of the word.
Way to go Buffs!

Their ability to live and train at altitude is effectively a PED. They should win every year.
He is the best recruiter. He finds the guys/girls his system can help enough so they win.

Really? I think they have some pretty darn good talent.

there are disadvantages as well as advantages to training at altitude. You can't run fast intervals at altitude like you can at sea level. There's a trade off
They live high and train low...

Ummm...ever heard of John McDonnell?
They live and train at the same altitude...
Wetmore is not THE best coach in NCAA history, but definitely ONE of the best coaches in NCAA History.

Have they dug a giant hole somewhere near Boulder? The closest place with just 1000ft lower altitude is Fort Morgan, a 100 mile drive away.

!
1) Ben Saarel - won Footlocker West in high school
2) Morgan Pearson - sub-9 two mile in high school, ran 14:03 at Duke last year
3) Blake Theroux - 4:14/9:13 in high school
4) Pierce Murphy - 9:14
5) Amar Moussa - 4th at NXN, two time California state champ, 8:51 two mile
6) Zach Perrin - 4:09/8:55
7) Connor Winter - 1:52/4:22/9:09; the first two were run on the same day when he swept the distance events at the Colorado state meet
Not running were: Adam Peterman: 8:57 for 3200, and Jake Hurysz, who was sixth at Footlocker.
Not exactly a bunch of scrubs.

+1
I think the guys at Portland are better. The fact they don't have a track, big name school or name says a lot. And they constantly beat many "Top" schools.
Well done by the Buffs though. Did they listen to letsrun's advice from that interview?

Seriously. I love Colorado, but the notion that Wetmore does it with a bunch of no-names and so-called "blue collar" runners is absurd.
seems to have a the gift, don't know what it is, but can't argued with the results!
nice job coach!
PS...glad he is not a typical trendy type!

The OP meant talent inferior to a lot of schools they beat, not "inferior" as in they sucked in high school. They also won with a roster full of Americans -- how many others in the top 10 today competed foreigner-free?
Here's part of the current Stanford men's X-C roster, along with HS times:Michael Atchoo 4:07Jack Keelan 8:53 (two miles) (not running)Sean McGorty 4:04 (mile); 8:45 (two miles)Erik Olson 4:08 (mile); 8:55Jim Rosa 4:07; 8:51Tyler Stutzman 4:07; 9:03Garrett Sweatt 9:15Marco Bertolotti 4:11 (mile)Joe Rosa 8:44 (two miles) not runningHere's a part of the current Oregon team:Tanguy Pepiot 3:46; 8:33 (steeplechase)Ed Cheserek 8:39 (two miles)Jake Leingang 8:51; 14:11Parker Stinson 29:32Ryan Pickering 4:11; 9:12Mac Fleet 4:02 (mile); 9:03Ben DeJarnette 9:06Jeramy Elkaim 8:46Correct, CU doesn't recruit scrubs, and they do get a few studs, but at least this year they won with a 9:14, a 9:13, and a 8:59 guy as two through four. And as for Moussa, he did it at the end, but he is a shadow of what he was.

Yeah but he got to coach when it was MUCH less competitive. I'd say Wetmore takes the cake because he does not have Kenyan runners like McDonnell loves to recruit. Wetmore does it local, gotta love that.
And regarding the squad, hate to tell you, but 9:14 is D3, sub 9 that's D1, but you cannot deny Wetmore develops talents like G
Can you give some examples of how many 9:14 guys have gone D3 and how many have gone D1?

exactly, talent inferior is a code word for the racists to point out how much they hate african runners.
9:14 is D3? Really? Not even for California times. This guy is delusional.
Out of the top ten in D3, 7/10 had PR's 9:15 or better. Boom Roasted
