I've benched 370.
That would mean a 4:09 marathon.
Currently 220 and bodybuilding. 4:09 isnt happening lol

I benched 225 once. I'll never bench that much again, nor will I run a 2:25 marathon.
Now I could probably bench about 180, and my best PR is in the half at around 88 minutes.
While some of my bros neglect the bench press, I put a HUGE (literally) emphasis on it. It is a good indicator of overall health and manliness. Over the years, my bench press went well into the 300's.
I could probably run a sub 3h Marathon anytime if I trained for it a few weeks but do I want to? Absolutely not.
Ran a 2:35 marathon a little over a year a go. Been lifting more since then and can now rep 225 3-4 times. So I'd say I can max over 235. Though i only run twice a week now...
I ran 2:32 back in 2006. Bench PR is 250 but I don't run more than 20-30 miles a week at most now....
Concurrent stats would be most impressive. I've seen a guy run sub 3:00 and deadlift 2.5 his bodyweight (405)

Sorry brah, kipping bench press does not count.

Marathon 3:06
Bench 335
OK so I'm slow, but I'm strong.

Haha, I had forgotten all about this old thread until I saw it pop up again today. Some amazing (if not downright questionable) responses thus far.
Since we can obviously vouch for your marathon time patti, any chance you could bench 152 lbs at your peak marathon fitness? Either way, very impressive...
Shawn Frankl could bench 800.
Weighing only 190 pounds, and a tremendous natural athlete, he could probably concurrently run 3:45.
With serious training, I wouldn't be surprised with < 2:50
He has to be the person capable of the greatest negative, or bench minus marathon time, concurrently or at peak.
I ran a 2:35 marathon and have a 240 bench max. I weighed about 158 at the time I ran my marathon. I think ones weight should be a factor in this equation.
Without a time restriction between PR's, this could show amazing numbers. I'm probably 50# heavier than I was as a runner, and my bench, without even really trying is above my marathon time. And I'm an untalented ass-hat that also doesn't specifically train bench.
Marathon: 2:53
Bench: 285
I'm not a fan of internet bench (or squat numbers)...too often ppl don't go low enough. If the bar doesn't touch your chest Itss not a bench

Hey moron, kipping is for pullups, not the bench press. Do you know anything about lifting?
And in case you're not a fan of kipping pullups either, let me ask you, if you're chased by a lion, would you kip up that wall to escape or would you try to use strict form ???
Talk about real life usefulness ...CrossFit wins.
Far better to be eaten by a lion than do kipping pullups!

I ran a 2:04 marathon and same day benched 550. I weighed 110 lbs at the time.
