I think marius used to train like this except unlike the article instead of focussing on speed he focussed on lactate whilst the athletes in the article started at 90% and went to 105% as a means of progression in the training and did not use lactate etc....
I guess 6 x 12 minutes is going to be an awfull lot for a runner. (injury wise then). But are there any colleges or so using this approach in running. 3 days a week of lactate threshold speed work.
I think it is at least food for discussion: the kid in the article is world junior champion in time trial after all. And 400 watt threshold at 18 is not nothing.
