What would be the 5 key Pieces of Advice that you'd give to a 17 year old runner looking to seriously improve his PR's and get much faster. Say he runs 40 mpw and 2 workouts and one race, with 1 long run of about 70 mins per week.

5 key pieces of advice? Don't ask for too much. Go figure it out on your own. If you would have asked for 1 or 2, you might have got it, but 5? This shows you are essentially lazy, weak-willed, and uninsightful.

40mpw is fun runner stuff unless you're extremely talented. Maybe you are, but I doubt it. Advice? Get your mileage up to 70-75mpw, long run of 12-15 once every 10 days, periodic tempos and long hill reps, use hard intervals cautiously when priming for key races.
