I need advice to train for track season. I had my last meet of XC season recently and now track season is on my mind. For the rest of XC season my coach wants me to continue training with the rest of the team doing two workouts a week (one tempo run and one interval) and one long run a week. I typically run about 70 miles a week with the team. I think that this will help me get faster for XC season but since I have no more meets this doesn't matter. My base during the summer was basically non-existent and I think I should go back to a base training phase.
My question is how should can I get increase my base and aerobic capacity for track season while still following my coaches program?
My body can handle high mileage without injury and I have time to do doubles. I also plan on running the 1,500/5,000 in track. FYI
Thanks
