I'm currently a junior in high school on my second-ish year of running. My XC season just ended and I decided that I really want to push to be a lot better in track season. My PR's are 5:30 for the mile, 11:05 for the 3K, and 20:15 for the 5K (I know they suck, but last year I was overweight running 25-26's on my 5K's).
At this point in time, I'm just wondering what a realistic improvement if I push myself hard from now (October 5) to February would be? I want to be able to break 4:40 on the 1500 and 10:20 on the 3K , and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Do you guys think this is achievable?
Also, how would you guys recommend I structure my training in order to achieve my goals/become much better?
Finally, do you think I have potential to break 17:30 on the 5K next year and maybe walk on to a D3 school team?
Thanks so much, much love!
