My classes and new job are making it hard to fit in my runs recently. I am looking to make a switch to running at 7am and just looking for a little advice.
I'm not used to running early. I have been doing shakeout double runs of 4 miles twice a week 30 minutes after waking up. But I take these slow (7:30 pace) and just get them done with since I am tired.
My weekends are filled basically from 9am to 8pm with work now. I know I can't do good long runs or runs in general at 8:30pm after a day of standing on my feet.
I can do good workouts on Tuesday and Thursday since I am free those days.
I guess I'm just curious how to get into the routine of running good regular runs and long runs and possibly workouts at 7am. I know lots of people run at 5am so I know I can do it but how should I adjust?
Will this require going to sleep at 10pm? Like should I wake up at 6am and will I be good after an hour? Also what is best to eat? I have done a banana and some peanut butter before early morning runs and it works okay, but I am looking to move all of my training to 7am daily so do I need to wake up 2 hours before to feel "normal", and also what to eat?
I'm still thinking I'll feel tired if I work from say 10am to 8pm on a saturday and then have to run on sunday at 7am. But it looks like that's what i will need to do, so any advice on adjusting to early running and tips would be appreciated.
(For reference I am running 60 miles a week, am in 16:00 5k shape, and training to run ~15:30/32:30 for 10k in December).
