First I am very happy for Ethiopia but disappointed Haile didn’t get a medal. Anyway after watching Kenenisa and Seleshi today, I have no doubt they will do the same in the 5000m and hope Dejene will get third as well.

i think he'll do it. how bout that 53 last 400? i about shit my pants.
Yeah, his last lap was simply amazing. 53 would be a good lap time for an 800, but at the end of a 10,000...wow!
El G.
El G ran a 52 last in the 5000
Do you think Kenenisa can lose the 5000?
kipchoge
The race for silver is between Kipchoge, El G and Shine and Brihanu.. I believe that the Ethiopians are bringing more fire power than in Paris.. and Brihanu will go out fast...Shine will take the load at the end.. he will fade.. but he will make kipchoge work hard over 1000 and then bekele will take the last 400 54.. I dont think El G will line up. he will pull out.
Yes, I think Kenenisa Bekele will win the 5000m. Why because he is in better shape than he was in 2003 and Eliud is no longer an unknown; however, Kenenisa win is not guaranteed as Eliud is a unbelievable talent as well.
I would like to see those two go at in an european meet right after the Olympics where both are fresh in a world record attempt-but it will never happen.
VIPAM
KIPCHOGE IS BURNING FOR GOLD..........BEKELE FOR SILVER AND KIBOWEN FOR BRONZE
Bekele didn't have to run a 53 in yesterday's race, I think he was testing himself for the 5000. He went at 500 and still did a 53. I think that will be his tactics in the 5000. He feel vulnerable in a last lap sprint, but can anyone match him over 500?
I agree with those picks. Don't know why or how but Kipchoge will pull it out somehow. Kibowen has more experience than Sihine or the other Ethiopian and better finishing speed too, and is fresh. Expect a very fast last 600 regardless of the pace, fast or slow.
Does a bear shit in the woods? Nuff Said!
What we know currently, I think, is that Kenny is in at least 37 shape, Sihine 47 probably, is Kipchoge still in 46 shape? I understand it's championship racing, but still... Kenny's job will be to help Sihine try for 2nd.
What about El G. If he runs he can throw down on any lap.

He also let up just a tad at the end...it would have been a high 52 split if he'd sprinted all the way through.
Johnathon Riley in his fastest 5k ever closed in 56.5 was the slowest reported split..some said 55....closing in 53 off a pace that's not even fast for Bekele probably wasn't that hard...especially after they relaxed going into the last couple laps.

I think it's between Sihine and Kipchoge and I currently favor Sihine, but I'll wait for the semis. I don't think El G is a match for those 3, but his 3:27 was impressive??? We'll see.
Michael Aish by a whisker.
Alistar Cragg. You heard it here first.
