Dang, he is in the fastest heat too. Wonder if he can hang or if he will be way back.

He ran like 15:22 at Carslbad a few weeks back, though apparently he had GI/bathroom trouble there, but he will need to be in MUCH better shape than that to deal with runners seeded in 3:4x.

He was at a local tri this past Sunday and "only" came in 4th. I was in the race (way back) and Lukas was't even leading the 5k (out and back course). So that 15:22 is pretty much the shape he is in.

Having seen his video right after his wreck, it's good to see him competing period.

Hopefully, they reseed the races so he's not running in over his head.

I do not think that his seeds are a guesstimation of his fitness. They are his personal bests. I believe the 3:43.00 was en route to his 3:59.xx

That's believable, but it still leaves him incredibly over-matched given that at best 15 low 5k seems to be his current fitness level.

He is basically just going to be running his own race by himself if he doesn't get in a different heat...or has a huge surprise for us.

I'm sure Lukas would rather lose the competitive heat rather than winning a slow heat. He still has a ways to go, no doubt, but I think this comeback is exciting to watch. He'll get there, just hope he races on the track again next summer

Exactly. Those are both his PR's from his senior year of HS; the 3:43 being his enroute time to sub 4 and his 14:06 his former HS NR

no one is questioning if those are his pr's, what they are questioning is whether or not he is in shape to run those times. keep in mind he is coming back from an injury that nearly ended his competitive career.

Right now I doubt he is in 3:4x shape. I think 3:52 is a maybe, but realistically I think he'll run about 3:55. A couple months down the road he'll be in the 3:40 lows. But not right now.

Have to see what the middle couple laps were done in...

Really? That is your best stuff? After horrific ride, literally? How about rooting for a comeback, as much as that might stick in your craw?
