Great point. Everyone in this race is bad and it's not even worth talking about.

You are sure that Jager is not top-3? Last season that he really raced it he was on the WC team and still too young to drink legally. Now he has pushed the AR in the Steeple down a couple notches and he is still learning that event (although I will go along with malmo that he is as much a natural as you can get).

Did you ever run the Sierra Madre 9 mile race up and back?
When I see those lists up a week or so in advance, with so many names on them, I wonder wh'os actually going to show up.

Why is Derrick listed as Nike/Aurum? Did some Chinese kid use his phonetic pronunciation "alum" over the actual spelling? It looks like Heath also has the same tag (almost).
Aurum is Latin for gold....
Gold plated Nike poop, that is.
Boom!!!
Look it up........
his progress after turning 30 is very suspicious to say the least. or am i wrong?

He's close. Derrick, too. But for a field to be LOADED, in caps, I think it needs a bit more than two promising young stars who could be top 3-5 in the US if everything goes perfectly this year.
For the record, my top two are Rupp and Lagat, with about 10 guys battling for #3, and Lomong in the driver's seat.
True- FTW
Jager- He wants a PB. He'll go after the A standard. But he often ties up the last 100. True will outkick him if he stays close.
Webb- He's one of the best runners in the field. 3:30, 13:10 PB but he's sucked so many times. It's hard to pick him to win but I could see it happening if he runs smart.
Solinsky- He's the class of the field. 12:55 PB. He'll get near 13:20. If Mottram could do it last year, Solinsky definitely can.
Curtis- He'll be there at the bell.
Yes, I did; why the question? It was a bit tricky going down with a lot of runners still coming up but that race was so long ago it is hard to remember clearly. I vaguely recall that it started going uphill on a road then transitioned to the trail. I also ran faster than I thought I had any business doing (given that I had only done high school running at a very mediocre level and had not run that much in preparation).

Just curious. A CCAC guy edged me out at the finish one year. He was a pretty good runner.
I joined CCAC a couple years later; the SM race was the only one I ran between XC in high school and when I ran in the fall of 74. It might have been Irwin Merwin, although it is possible I beat him or was very close (I think that I was pretty good going downhill and uphill was my forte both running and (especially) later when I raced on the bike. The next running race I did was Mt Baldy ('74).
you never know for sure, but I personally think he is clean.
reasons for his improvement could be that since the autumn of 2011 he is self-coached and that is when his improvement started. He changed his training program completely from high milege to lower milage with much more quality training. If you are interested, he uploads regularly his training logbook under arnegabius.de .
Furthermore, he finished his studies (medicine) so he has now more time to train than before.
I wonder the mass weight of porcine thyroid in that loaded field?

This was someone else in '75. I ran it quite a bit faster the next year but he wasn't there and had improved a lot too. Those were interesting times and there were a lot of good runners around.
These idiots are agents. Aurum is not a registered club and puts athlete's eligibility at risk .
Pretty much dead on with everything. True won in 13:13 or 14, held off a late charging Jager who was also 13:14.You forgot Estrada, who pulled out 3rd with 13:15, out kicking Hassan Mead and Leonard Korir who were also in the 13:15 range. Huling was up there with a 13:18.Solinsky looked awesome. He stayed way back the entire race, then took charge of the chase pack with a few to go and battled his way toward the front. Not sure what place, but he was 13:21 I believe.Webb was back around 13:36. He should have tried to go with Solinsky. Hopefully he doesn't switch coaches. I could see him really doing well under Schumacher.Jenkins was up there too, though I don't know his time. Maybe under 13:20?
